Apparently studies show that theobromine, an ingredient found in cocoa, was much more effective in stopping persistent coughs than codeine – the cough medicine currently considered most effective.

I first came across this medicinal trivia when reading an interview with a world-renown opera singer who claimed in the opera world the go-to cough suppressant is a bar of chocolate.

Chocolate sounds like a better idea to me than nasty spoonfuls of berry-flavored Robitussin. The latter, of which, never worked for me.
